Replacement laminate doors are cheap and look chic

In case of replacement laminate doors, the work can be real easy and cost effective if you can indulge a little into the painting part. A nice painting can help turn the replacement doors real glossy with a sturdy lamination as well.

Let's have a detailed and informative discussion on replacement laminate doors for your kitchen and bathroom. In case you had laminated doors in your kitchen and bathroom and now they have already surpassed their best form, you can consider replacing them with laminated replacements to invoke their prior gloss and tinge.

Some of the necessary steps you would need to follow for the replacement have been enlisted here as follows:

  • Ensure that the replacement surfaces are modestly laminated, dried and completely free from dirt, grease etc.

  • The melamine should be in a fine condition and obviously not damaged.

  • If you don’t have plans of replacing the door knobs with new ones, remove the door knobs or handles and put them in a safe place. Just changing the knobs can make a massive difference to a room and the doors though.

  • For best results, the tile surface can be lightly scuffed with wet dry abrasive paper and a solution of water and washing up liquid.

  • Rinse the replacement laminate doors with clean water and allow them to dry before the painting.

  • For best results, use the lamination paint on conventional satin. It gives the cupboards a durable hard wearing finish for the cupboards and doors. The entire mash will present a durable undercoating which will dry quickly and can be recoated for lamination within six hours.

  • Before the coat is put see that the paint is stirred thoroughly with a palette knife or something similar. Do not over thin it even if it appears a bit too sticky while applying.

  • Apply 1 or 2 coats of the lamination paint using a synthetic brush.

  • This provides the best results in terms of the brush marks showing.

  • Apply the paint liberally and evenly to avoid runs and sags.

  • Do not spread the paint too much or it may look a little patchy.

  • If you want a strong color change apply two or more coats may be required. Give a gap of 6 hours between coats for drying. For the perfect results, lightly sand the surface between coats. Allow 4 hours drying time between coats.

  • Do not use the lamination paint on the replacements when the room temperature is below 10°C or in damp, humid conditions.

  • Once the surface becomes graded, you will have to use a non-abrasive household cleaner or a soft damp cloth to sponge and clean the surface.
